  • Allatoona Project Releases High Water, Carters Lake Receding

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at Allatoona Lake Project has begun releasing water through its dam spillway as of 3:00 p.m. EST on Feb. 21, 2020 due to high water levels at the reservoir. In addition, USACE Mobile District’s water management efforts – along with reduced inflows from lighter rainfall – have helped the main reservoir's high water level recede at Carters Lake Project.
  • High Waters Bring Closures To BWT Recreation Areas

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at Black Warrior-Tombigbee Lakes Demopolis Site Office closed several recreation areas along the BWT Waterway System as of Feb. 10, 2020, until further notice due to high water levels from recent heavy rains.

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Project in Columbus, Mississippi, announces several of its campgrounds will only accept credit or debit cards as methods of payment and become 100 percent reservable via recreation.gov, starting March 1, 2020.

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at West Point Lake Project announces prescribed burning of selected timber stands around the reservoir is underway and will begin immediately once weather conditions are favorable.

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District in Bay Springs, Mississippi announces camping season at Piney Grove Campground, Bay Springs Lake, and Whitten Campground, Fulton, Mississippi, will begin March 1, 2020, with all sites reservable.
  • USACE To Host 4 Open House Meetings For Lake Lanier’s Recreation Capacity Study, Master Plan Update

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District is scheduled to host four open-house meetings Feb. 24 – 27, 2020, to update the public on the results of the Recreation Capacity Study and Master Plan Update for Lake Sidney Lanier in Georgia.
  • Buford Dam Road, Park Areas To Temporarily Close

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at Lake Sidney Lanier announces Buford Dam Road will be closed to traffic in order to complete roadway repairs, starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22. Repairs are expected to be completed by 5:00 p.m., reopening Buford Dam Road to traffic.
  • USACE West Point Lake Accepting Organic Christmas Trees

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at West Point Lake is accepting organic (i.e., naturally grown) Christmas trees for recycling until Jan. 10, 2020. Artificial trees will not be accepted.
  • USACE Allatoona Lake To Temporarily Close McKinney Campground For Upcoming New Year

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District scheduled the closing of McKinney Campground from Jan. 1 to May 15, 2020, in order to place it on the sewer system for Bartow County, Georgia.

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District announces a 30-day addition to the comment period for the Draft Feasibility Report and Integrated Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FR/SEIS) for the Allatoona Lake Water Supply Storage Reallocation Study and Updates to Weiss and Logan Martin Reservoirs Project Water Control Manuals, Alabama and Georgia, extending the public comment period to Jan. 29, 2020.
