  • USACE, USCG, GEORGIA DNR OFFER MORE SESSIONS FOR BOATING SAFETY COURSE

    MOBILE, Ala. – The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 08-01, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake, will conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course June 8, July 13 and Aug. 10, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Point Lake Project Management Office, located at 500 Resource Management Drive in West Point, Georgia.
  • USACE SEEKING RESOURCE AGENCY COMMENTS ON MOBILE HARBOR GRR SEIS

    MOBILE, Ala. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District announces the availability and soliciting of comments from resource agencies on the Mobile Harbor General Reevaluation Report (GRR) with an integrated Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS), Mobile County, Alabama. A copy of the integrated SEIS is located at the following website: http://www.sam.usace.army.mil/Missions/Program-and-Project-Management/Civil-Projects/Mobile-Harbor-GRR/. This document is being circulated to resource agencies for a 30-day comment period.
  • USACE ALLATOONA LAKE PROJECT TO HOST ‘KIDS TO PARKS, SAFE KIDS DAY’ AT GALT’S FERRY

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District is scheduled to host a “Kids to Parks/Safe Kids Day” May 18, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Galt’s Ferry Day Use Area on Allatoona Lake in Acworth, Georgia. Co-sponsored by Safe Kids Cherokee County and the National Park Trust, this event will provide participants an opportunity to learn about recreation safety with a variety of activities.
  • WFG DAM TEMPORARILY CLOSING PUBLIC ACCESS TO DIKES FOR REPAIRS

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District’s Walter F. George Lake Project will close public access to both the Alabama and Georgia-side dikes to repair damage resulting from Hurricane Michael. Closure will commence on May 6, 2019, beginning with the Alabama side of the dike. The Georgia side will close (with an announcement via WFG Lake Project’s Facebook Page) after repairs have completed on the Alabama side. The temporary closure is expected to last approximately six to eight weeks.
  • PUBLIC USE SHELTERS TO BECOME RESERVABLE AT WEST POINT

    MOBILE, Ala. – Park Rangers at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District’s West Point Project will begin taking reservations for shelters starting May 1, 2019. The shelters will not be available for public use until May 11, 2019. Patrons intending to reserve a shelter must do so six days in advance of their desired use date. Otherwise, unoccupied shelters can be used by the public on a first-come, first serve basis.
  • USACE TEAMS UP WITH USCG, GEORGIA DNR TO OFFER BOATING COURSE AT WEST POINT LAKE

    MOBILE, Ala. – The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 08-01, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Project, will conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course at the West Point Management Office on May 11, 2019. The course will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • WEST POINT LAKE: TEMPORARY CLOSURES OF R. SHAEFER HEARD DAY PARK, DAM ROAD, BOAT RAMPS

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at West Point Lake will close R. Shaefer Heard Day Use Park, its boat launching ramps, and West Point Dam Road to all vehicular traffic April 26-28, 2019 for the 16th Annual West Point Lake Triathlon.
