  • USACE BWT LAKES PROJECT TO HOST FIRST SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY HUNT FOR DISABLED HUNTERS

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at Black Warrior and Tombigbee Lakes Project is scheduled to host its first Special Opportunity Hunt with archery-only deer hunting for disabled hunters Dec. 7 – 8, 2019, at Holt Resource Office’s Rocky Branch Day Use Area and Dec. 14 – 15, 2019, at Demopolis Resource Management Office. Hunting times will be Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS WAIVES FEES ON NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY, SEPT. 28

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District announced, Sept. 18, 2019, the Corps will waive day use fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches at its recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day Saturday, Sept. 28.

    MOBILE, Ala. – Due to a vessel accident at the Jamie Whitten Lock & Dam on Sunday, September 8, 2019, the lock has been closed to all traffic until further notice. The duration of the closure remains undetermined at this time, as hazard assessments are underway.

  • TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF WEST POINT LAKE DAM ROAD

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake will temporarily close vehicular and pedestrian traffic across West Point Dam Road Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (EST) to ensure public safety during the maintenance of West Point Dam.
  • PSA: RABIES PRESENT IN WILDLIFE NEAR LAKE LANIER

    MOBILE, Ala. – The Georgia Department of Public Health recently detected the rabies virus among wildlife in Forsyth County, Georgia near U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District’s Lake Lanier Project. A raccoon in the area of Sweetwater Drive and Buford Dam Road tested positive for rabies.
  • WEST POINT LAKE CLOSURES FOR ARMY TRAINING EXERCISE

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake will close several of its areas to public access Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, to host Soldiers from U.S. Army’s 3rd Battalion at Fort Benning, Georgia to conduct an Army training exercise.

    MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division responded to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District Aug. 14, 2019, with test results of Allatoona Lake, addressing recent public concern about harmful algal blooms.
  • USACE WORKING WITH GA DNR TO ADDRESS REPORTS OF HARMFUL ALGAE AT ALLATOONA LAKE

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District is aware of reports that harmful algal blooms may be present at Allatoona Lake in Cartersville, Georgia. Currently, the USACE Mobile District has been coordinating with the local health department for Bartow County and Georgia Department of Natural Resources to address public concern.

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at West Point Project announces its annual celebration of National Public Lands Day scheduled Sept. 28, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Holiday Campground, located on the project site in West Point, Georgia.
