    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Project announced today that the project will begin a refurbishment survey of the federal boundary line around the West Point Lake reservoir on Monday, July 20, 2020.
  • USACE Walter F. George Lake To Begin Water Drawdown August 1st

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announced today that on August 1, 2020, the District will begin its scheduled 3-foot water level drawdown at Walter F. George Lake, in preparation for planned repairs to the dikes at Walter F. George Dam damaged by Hurricane Michael in 2018.
  • Army Corps of Engineers reports an increase in adult drowning at its lake and river projects this summer

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that more than 30 people lost their lives to drowning in June at lake and river projects the agency manages. The June statistics represent a 47 percent increase in drownings over the same time period last year. USACE also reported that nearly all the drowning victims were adult males between the ages of 18 and 85 and were not wearing a life jacket at the time of the drowning.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project office at Lake Sidney Lanier wishes to advise the public that Buford Dam Road will be closed for roadway maintenance from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14th.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announces that beginning the week of July 5, 2020, the District will commence dredging operations on the Mobile Bar Channel.
  • Mobile District Signs Partnership Agreement with Alabama State Port Authority

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District is pleased to announce it has entered into a Project Partnership Agreement with the Alabama State Port Authority, to deepen and widen the Mobile Harbor Ship Channel in Mobile, Alabama. Colonel Sebastien P. Joly, Commander of the Mobile District, and John C. Driscoll, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Alabama State Port Authority, signed the agreement on June 17, 2020.
  • USACE Temporarily Closes West Point Dam Road

    To ensure public safety during the maintenance of West Point Dam, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake will temporarily close vehicular and pedestrian traffic across West Point Dam Road beginning at 8:00 a.m. on June 15, 2020, until further notice.

  • Mobile District Re-Opens Campgrounds

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District is very pleased to announce that our recreation area campgrounds will be re-opening for visitors, starting June 1, 2020 at five of our projects. Visitors will also be able to begin placing campsite reservations on the Recreation.gov website or smartphone app beginning June 1, 2020.
