The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District's construction division held a Celebrate Safety site visit and conference recently at the Corps' project office at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Fla. The purpose of Celebrate Safety is to allow representatives from throughout the district's construction division and project sites to see what best safety practices are being implemented throughout the division and to nominate the best project site for that quarter.

USACE Mobile Provides Modular Office Space to Tyndall Air Force Base
Four months following the destruction left by Hurricane Michael, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District continues to provide support in the recovery of Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida. As part of this recovery, the Corps has established 10 temporary working facilities comprised of 63 modular office trailers. The temporary offices will provide space to key administrative facilities and tenant units at Tyndall AFB.

Mobile District Corps of Engineers complete initial building assessments to aid Tyndall Air Force Base
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District provided an initial assessment of approximately 800 structures on Tyndall Air Force Base to aid in the installation's recovery following Hurricane Michael. Initial assessments help provide a quick account of which structures are safe to inhabit and which structures will require additional inspection or repair.

On Oct. 10, 2018, Hurricane Michael struck the Florida Panhandle devastating much of the Florida coastline and property as the storm made its' way through the Southeast. While many structures, forestation, and other ecological areas did not withstand the force of Michael, the 20-year U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District Panama City Beach coastal restoration not only withstood the onslaught of Hurricane Michael but provided additional protection against the hurricane's intense storm surge.
