Bailey Crane

Bailey joined the Mobile District in 2008 as an engineering student trainee. After completing his undergraduate education he joined the District as a full time engineer in 2009. Bailey began his career working in the Water Management Section, performing real-time operations and forecasting for Mobile District’s locks and dams. He was also heavily involved in technical work to update the ACF and ACT water control manuals during this time. In early 2016 Bailey moved to the Hydrology and Hydraulic Design Section where his work consisted of performing hydraulic studies to reduce flooding and completing dam safety studies to assess the hydrologic adequacy of dams. In 2017 he was selected for a six month developmental assignment with the Risk Management Center in Pittsburgh, PA performing high level dam safety risk assessments, and assisting other district with dam safety related work nationwide.

In 2018 Bailey was selected as the Section Chief of the Hydrology, Hydraulics and Coastal Engineering Section. In 2021 Bailey moved to a position in Planning Division as the Plan Formulation Branch Chief. In 2024 Bailey became the Planning Division Chief for Mobile District. Bailey has been recognized multiple times for his work in the ACF and ACT water control manual updates, including receiving the Superior Civilian Service Award for his work on the ACT and multiple Commanders Award’s for Civilian Service for his work on the ACF. Bailey has practiced Water Resources Engineering and Planning for 15 years, all with the Corps of Engineers, Mobile District. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of South Alabama in 2009. Bailey is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Alabama.
