Catherine Cummings

Catherine M. Cummings became the chief of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, in February 2008.  As the EEO chief, Cummings is responsible for managing and directing the EEO discrimination complaint process in an effective, efficient, and responsive manner. She develops and implements the Affirmative Employment Plan and manages and monitors the EEO Special Emphasis Program.  She also ensures that all employees receive fair and equal treatment and have a work environment free of discrimination. 

 

Prior to her current assignment, Cummings served as the EEO chief for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Saint Louis District. Cummings also served 10 years in U.S. Air Force. Her Air Force assignments included military Equal Opportunity Officer at Minot Air Force Base, N.D.; military personnel chief and support group executive officer at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas; and as a missile launch officer in F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, Wyo.

 

Catherine is a native of the south, originally from Jackson, Miss.  She graduated from the University of North Carolina, Pembroke with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. She holds a master’s degree from Lesley University in Human Resources.  Cummings’ other formal education includes the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute Officer and Civilian Military Equal Opportunity and EEO Managers in Residence courses, various Department of the Army EEO online and residence courses, and Squadron Officer School.  As a graduate of the Justice Center of Atlanta, she is a certified mediator.

 

Cummings is married and has two daughters.
