Timothy W. Tarver

Mr. Timothy W. Tarver serves as the CIO/G6 Chief of Information Technology/Information Management (IT/IM) for the Mobile District.  In this capacity, he oversees the IT/IM program and advises command on all functions under the Revolutionary Information Technology Services (RITS) support contract.

Tim began his career in 1984 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After serving for 20 years, he retired as a Communications and Computing Systems Officer. During his Air Force career, he served in multiple capacities to include Detachment Commander supporting combined air operations in support of Operation Southern Watch, and Senior IT Director supporting over 600,000 Joint warfighters. While serving at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, he initiated and implemented a single communications capability that linked local first responders and emergency military operations spanning from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Tallahassee, Florida. This project was the first to create a common communications system on the Gulf Coast for emergency operations and was used to coordinate Hurricane Katrina response efforts.

After retiring from the Air Force, Tim worked for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) where he supervised a multi-faceted Tier 3 IT Service Desk staff responsible for planning, directing, reviewing and coordinating IT work and operations efforts to include systems monitoring, troubleshooting, Incident and Problem Management, Configuration, Change and Release Management, Knowledge Management and Security Management to meet support requirements of 63 DOD-level customer IT systems.

Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Eastern New Mexico University along with a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Auburn University and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Ethics from Springhill College.  He holds numerous certifications to include Project Management Professional (PMP), IT Support Center Director, and National Information Systems Security Professional (NISSP).  He has received numerous awards to include the Arthur S. Fleming award from George Washington University for outstanding contributions to the Federal Government.

Tim is a native of Louisiana and has been a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers CIO/G6 since June 2011. He resides in Mobile, Alabama, with his wife, Lisa. He has three sons: Joshua (deceased), Jesse, and Justin.
