Brian Ivey

Brian D. Ivey is the chief of Resource Management Office for the Mobile District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He serves as the principle financial advisor to the district commander, Headquarters staff and field offices. Ivey orchestrates the overall resource management program comprised of accounting, program, budget, manpower and management analysis. He is primarily responsible for Resource Management business processes and systems involving the District’s more than $1 billon workload revenue and more than 1,100 employees.  His responsibilities include budget formulation and execution, managerial accounting, financial reporting, manpower and management studies, Chief Financial Officer Act oversight, and corporate board membership. 

Ivey coordinates actions within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with other federal agencies, state governments and municipalities. He collaborates with fellow division and office chiefs to execute the district’s mission.  He also serves as the district’s comptroller career program manager.

Since starting his career as a co-op student in 1991, Ivey’s civil service assignments have been primarily with the Mobile District.  He began his career in 1991 as a GS-4 working in the Real Estate Division.  From 1992 to 2003 he held various accounting positions in the Resource Management Division, to including serving as a Department of the Army intern, civil accountant, and an accountant.

In 2003, Ivey became the Resource Management Division’s Hydropower accountant, the position he served in until 2009 when he was promoted to budget officer.  In December 2012, Ivey was selected for his current position as the resource management officer. 

Ivey deployed to Afghanistan from February to August 2008, where he served as acting chief financial officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Afghanistan.

Ivey holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Ala.; a master’s in Business Administration from the University of Mobile and is a licensed certified professional accountant.  He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors.
