    WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at the more than 2,800 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day, November 11.
  • Allatoona Lake to begin accepting reservations for all campsites

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that the Allatoona Lake Project Management Office will begin accepting reservations in advance for all of its campsites for the 2018 camping season. In the past, approximately 10% of the project’s campsites were only available on an in-person, first-come, first-serve basis.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Emergency Temporary Power Team sets new record for generator installations in Puerto Rico

    SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Task Force Puerto Rico’s, Emergency Temporary Power Planning and Response Team (PRT) from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Albuquerque District installed its 311th temporary generator October 28th in support of Hurricane Maria response and recovery efforts, setting a new record for generator installations.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that they are in the initial stages to update the Master Plan at Lake Sidney Lanier in Buford, Ga. The Lake Lanier Master Plan is a comprehensive land and recreational management tool that guides the stewardship of natural and cultural resources and the provision of outdoor recreation facilities and opportunities at the project.

But, several times during his long career with the Corps, Poiroux has turned his hand to disaster response.
  • Town Creek Campground to close for winter season

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, announced today that Town Creek Campground in West Point, Miss. will close for the winter season Nov. 1, 2017, and is scheduled to reopen Mar. 1, 2018. The campgrounds are located on Columbus Lake along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.
