  • Allatoona Lake to begin accepting reservations for all campsites

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that the Allatoona Lake Project Management Office will begin accepting reservations in advance for all of its campsites for the 2018 camping season. In the past, approximately 10% of the project’s campsites were only available on an in-person, first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Lake Seminole to close several roads, access areas for interagency training exercise

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that Jim Woodruff Powerhouse Road and North River Landing Road at the Lake Seminole Project Management Office in Chattahoochee, Fla. will be closed to the public, March 4-6, for an interagency training exercise. During the same timeframe, the public will also be restricted from accessing the Lower Pool Access Area, West Bank Overlook, and the parking area adjacent to the Jim Woodruff Dam entrance.
  • Corps of Engineers to host Town Hall to discuss proposed Mobile Harbor project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, invites the public to attend a Town Hall meeting, Feb. 22, to discuss the ongoing study to determine the feasibility of increasing the depth and width of the Mobile Harbor Federal Navigation Channel. The Town Hall meeting will be held at the Mobile Convention Center, One South Water Street, Mobile, Ala., from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Prescribed burning of timberlands underway at West Point Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Project announced today that prescribed burning of selected timber stands around the reservoir is underway. Each winter, the Corps works with Forestry Commissions in both Alabama and Georgia using controlled burning to improve wildlife habitats on the public property surrounding the reservoir.

  • Corps of Engineers to host public meetings to discuss Lake Lanier Recreation Capacity Study, Master Plan Update

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, is scheduled to host four open house meetings in February to update the public on the status of a Recreation Capacity Study and Master Plan Update for Lake Sidney Lanier in Georgia. Each open house will feature the same information, with subject matter experts from the Corps of Engineers on hand to brief the public on the purpose and goals of the study.
  • West Point Lake going cashless for the 2018 season

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that the four Corps-managed campgrounds at West Point Lake in Georgia will begin “cashless” operations in 2018. Only credit and debit cards will be accepted as payment at R. Shaefer Heard, Whitetail Ridge, Holiday and Amity Campgrounds. Other forms of payment, including checks, will no longer be accepted.

    MOBILE, AL - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Project will accept real Christmas trees, not artificial trees, for recycling Dec. 26, through Jan. 13. The trees will be used to create fish structures at various locations.
  • Allatoona Lake to accept Christmas trees for recycling

    The Allatoona Lake Project Management Office announced today that they will accept unwanted, live Christmas trees for recycling beginning Dec. 26, 2017 until Jan. 2, 2018 at seven drop-off sites around the lake. The seven drop-off locations include the Allatoona Operations Project Management Office, Victoria Day-Use Parking Area, Galt’s Day-Use Parking Area, Sweetwater Campground Overflow Parking Area, Payne Boat Ramp, Blockhouse 1 Fishing Jetty (behind Paw Paw’s Convenience Store) and Bethany Bridge Fishing Jetty Parking Area.
