    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, is scheduled to release a tentatively selected flood risk management plan for the Sweetwater Creek Watershed in Georgia for public and agency review, April 6. To present the findings of the Tentatively Selected Plan (TSP), the district will host two Open House meetings in the watershed on April 9 and April 10.

  • Boating safety courses offered at West Point Lake

    Free personal watercraft and boating safety courses will be held at West Point Lake throughout the summer, with the first class scheduled for April 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time.

  • Spring Aboard - Take a Boating Course

    INSERT CITY, State – The temperature may still be cool outside, but it is a perfect time of year to start getting prepared for the boating season. Boating safety advocates are urging boaters to enroll in a boating education course prior to the main boating season. Spring Aboard – Take A Boating Education Course campaign is a nationally coordinated effort during the week of March 18-24, 2018 to increase the awareness of taking a boating education course.

  • Walter F. George Lake to once again offer sewage hookups at Cotton Hill Campground

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that Cotton Hill Campground in Fort Gaines, Ga. will once again offer sewage hookups at most campsites for an additional $2, beginning March 2. Sewage hookups will be available at all 91 full-service campsites (electric, sewage and water) at Cotton Hill Campground for $26, except for the 10 primitive tent areas. The cost of primitive tent areas will remain $22 a night.

  • Drought operations, recent rainfall help Lake Lanier reach full winter pool for first time since 2016

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announced today that Lake Sidney Lanier in Northern Georgia reached full winter pool for the first time since May 2016. Under the Army Corps of Engineers’ Water Control Manuals for the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River Basin, a full winter pool for the lake is achieved when water levels reach 1070’.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today published in the Federal Register its request for proposals for beneficial use of dredged material pilot projects pursuant to Section 1122 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2016, Beneficial Use of Dredged Material.

  • Allatoona Lake to begin accepting reservations for all campsites

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that the Allatoona Lake Project Management Office will begin accepting reservations in advance for all of its campsites for the 2018 camping season. In the past, approximately 10% of the project’s campsites were only available on an in-person, first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Lake Seminole to close several roads, access areas for interagency training exercise

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that Jim Woodruff Powerhouse Road and North River Landing Road at the Lake Seminole Project Management Office in Chattahoochee, Fla. will be closed to the public, March 4-6, for an interagency training exercise. During the same timeframe, the public will also be restricted from accessing the Lower Pool Access Area, West Bank Overlook, and the parking area adjacent to the Jim Woodruff Dam entrance.
