USACE implements high water plan for Lake Lanier

Mobile, Alabama – Due to the high water level at Lake Lanier, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Sidney Lanier has implemented the High Water Action Plan.

 

The normal summer pool elevation at Lake Lanier is 1071, as of 9:15 a.m. Friday, the elevation was 1074.31 and rising. The rise has been slowed by the 24-hour releases that began earlier this week. Heavy rainfall in the basin upstream continues to flow into Lake Lanier. It is expected that Lake Lanier will remain above 1074 throughout the weekend.

 

As part of the High Water Action Plan the following Parks and Facilities will be closed:

 

  Boat Ramps:

 

     Old Federal Campground

     Van Pugh South

     Little River

     Thompson Bridge

     Bolding Mill

     Toto Creek

     Little Hall

     Keith Bridge

     Two Mile

 

The following beaches will be closed for swimming and all campground swim areas are closed as well.

    

  Beaches:

 

     Van Pugh North

     Old Federal Day Use

     Duckett Mill

     Little Hall

     Bolding Mill

     Keiths Bridge

     Burton Mill

     West Bank

     Buford Dam Park

 

  Parks:

    

     Sardis Creek

     Little Ridge

     Long Hollow

     Simpson

     Robinson

 

Some picnic sites and one walkway at West Bank Park are closed and some campsites at Sawnee Campground are closed as well. Additional parks and facilities may close if we surpass 1075.

These areas will remain closed until the water gets down below 1074.
