Mr. George Condoyiannis currently serves as Chief of Construction for the Mobile District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In this capacity, he leads an organization comprised of seven Area Offices and 24 Resident Offices that collectively manages a $4.7 billion construction contract portfolio. This effort executes Military Construction (MILCON), Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM), International Interagency Support (IIS), and Civil Works projects throughout four southeastern states and 12 Latin American countries. The overall mission, accomplished through more than 180 active projects, generates an annual construction placement volume exceeding $1.1 billion.
After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Mr. Condoyiannis spent four years in private industry with a Virginia-based general contractor. He entered federal service in 1988 joining the Atlantic Division Naval Facilities Engineering Command.
During his 14-year tenure, he served in several technical and leadership roles overseeing the design/construction of multiple project types including installation-wide utility infrastructure, heavy highway construction and large scale vertical work in southeastern Virginia and Italy.
In 2002, Mr. Condoyiannis accepted a resident engineer position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District. He was promoted to area engineer in 2005 and accepted responsibility for the Fort Benning Area Office in Columbus, Ga. Over the next six years, Mr. Condoyiannis built and structured a staff that completed the largest military construction initiative in the southeastern United States. This $2 billion program played a pivotal role in the Army's Base Realignment and Closure Plan which facilitated Fort Benning’s transformation into the Maneuver Center of Excellence.
Mr. Condoyiannis is the recipient of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, and has been twice decorated with the Army Superior Civilian Service Award. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Virginia.
