WEST POINT LAKE: TEMPORARY CLOSURES OF R. SHAEFER HEARD DAY PARK, DAM ROAD, BOAT RAMPS

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at West Point Lake will close R. Shaefer Heard Day Use Park, its boat launching ramps, and West Point Dam Road to all vehicular traffic April 26-28, 2019 for the 16th Annual West Point Lake Triathlon.

CORPS AT ALLATOONA LAKE PROJECT TO ACCEPT HUNTING PROGRAM APPLICATIONS

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at Allatoona Lake announces that applications for hunting permits may be submitted starting May 1, 2019. No applications will be accepted prior to this date. A $20.00 special permit activity fee is required for each requested permit.

PSA: ELECTRIC POWER INSPECTIONS ENCOURAGED FOR DOCKS, RAMPS AFTER HIGH WATER LEVELS

MOBILE, Ala. – As U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation sites across the southeastern U.S. continue facing high water conditions from ongoing, heavy rainfall events, the Corps strongly encourages the public to exercise caution and be alert to their surroundings when using or in the vicinity of privately-owned docks and boat ramps dotting the recreation sites. Many of these privately-owned facilities have electric power, and a number of them have become submerged in the high waters.

USACE AT ALLATOONA LAKE PROJECT DELAYS OPENING RECREATION AREAS

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District announced March 12, 2019 there will be a delay in the opening of numerous USACE-managed campgrounds and Day Use areas at Allatoona Lake in Cartersville, Georgia tentatively until March 29. This is due to the impacts of flooding and possible continued rainfall in the region.

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Project, Demopolis Site Office, reopened many of its recreation areas as of March 12, 2019 that had been closed due to excessive rain and flooding.

MOBILE, Ala. – The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 08-01 — in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at West Point Project — will conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course on April 13, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Point Lake Project Office in West Point, Georgia.
