CHECKS, CREDIT, DEBIT CARDS BUT NO CASH FOR USACE CAMPGROUNDS AT BWT LAKES NORTHERN SECTION

Published Nov. 16, 2018

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District announced its campgrounds along the northern section of the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway System will no longer accept cash payments in year 2019.

Credit cards, debit cards, and checks will be the only permitted forms of payment at the following BWT locations:

Burchfield Branch Campground (Adger, Ala.), effective Jan. 1, 2019

Deerlick Campground (Tuscaloosa, Ala.), effective March 1, 2019

“Cashless operations will give our visitors a secure way to conduct financial transactions, reducing the potential for loss of funds,” said Jason Cassity, assistant site manager, Demopolis Site Office for the BWT Waterway Project.

This change will streamline financial transactions, provide a quicker process when refunds are necessary, and enhance overall recreation operations, said Cassity.

Persons, in previous years, who only paid with cash or by check, may also use pre-paid credit cards.

For reservations, call 1-877-444-6777, visit www.recreation.gov or stop by a campground gatehouse.

The BWT Waterway Project is home to six beautiful lakes: Bankhead, Coffeeville, Demopolis, Holt, Oliver, and Warrior. Visit https://go.usa.gov/xPGnB for more information on BWT Lakes.
