    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District continues to encourage recreational users to practice water and boating safety as the Memorial Day holiday kicks off.
  • Update Water Control Manuals Approved for ACT

    MOBILE, Ala.-- Brigadier General David Turner, Commander South Atlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, signed the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and approved the Water Control Manuals for the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa Rivers basin today.
  • R. Shaefer Heard Day Use Park and West Point Dam Road to be Closed April 26, 2015

    MOBILE, Ala –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announces the R. Shaefer Heard Day Use Park and the road across West Point Dam will be closed to all vehicular traffic, at 6 p.m. Saturday April 25, 2015 thru 2 p.m., on Sunday April 26, 2015 for the 12th Annual West Point Lake Triathlon.
  • Decision to allow easement for Electric Transmission Line across Carters Lake Project

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District (USACE) will grant an easement to the Georgia Transmission Corporation for a Proposed Transmission Line across Carters Lake Project, Gilmer County, Ga. The District Commander, Colonel Jon J. Chytka, signed a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed easement on April 13, 2015.
  • McGee Bridge Dock Closed for Repairs

    MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District at West Point Project announced that the courtesy dock at McGee Bridge Park is closed for use until repairs can be made to the walkway section. A barricade and closed sign are posted. The public is discouraged from using the dock as this could cause additional damage to other portions of the walkway section. Thank you for your compliance.
  • Playground Improvement Underway at West Point Lake

    MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, (USACE) Mobile District at West Point Lake announced that efforts have begun to replace aging playground equipment in various parks around the reservoir. The existing playground equipment is more than 20-years-old and has become outdated. A total of 12 playgrounds are scheduled to be replaced. All of the outdated equipment is being removed. Hardley Creek and Eagle View Parks will receive new equipment this year. Other parks will be fitted with new equipment later this year and in subsequent years.

  • Earn a complimentary annual day-use pass

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) - Allatoona Lake and Lake Sidney Lanier Project Offices, two of the most visited USACE lakes in the South Atlantic Division, are conducting a pilot program to promote water and boating safety by recognizing Georgia residents, 18 years of age or older, that earn and provide a certificate from an authorized Safe Boating Class to receive a complimentary USACE annual day use pass, valid for one year.
