  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Extends Comment Period for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and Water Control Manual for the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin

    MOBILE, Ala. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, has extended the comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and Water Control Manual (WCM) for the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin until January 30, 2016.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces changes in recreation day use fees and Special Use Permit Fees

    MOBILE, Ala. - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced on January 1, 2016, the recreation day use fees charged for boat launches and swimming beaches managed by USACE will change to a simpler fee structure. The fee for the USACE annual pass to these facilities will also change. Some locations may also see a change in camping fees and the fee for a Special Use Permit, which covers events, facilities and activities.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to hold Public Scoping Meeting on Mobile Harbor General Reevaluation Report

    MOBILE, Ala. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District will hold a public Scoping Meeting Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Mobile Cruise Terminal on Water Street from 5 until 8 p.m. to begin the process of conducting a General Reevaluation Report to determine the feasibility of widening and deepening the Mobile Harbor channel to its authorized dimensions.
  • USACE updates its Shoreline Use Rules

    MOBILE, Ala. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District announced today shoreline management changes. This change impacts property owners on USACE projects throughout the Southeast. It brings shoreline management regulations into compliance with federal law. The laws directing the construction of the dams and reservoirs – laws dating to the 1940s – never authorized irrigation, in any amount, as a project purpose.
  • Flood Risk Management on the ACF and ACT Basins Capture 1200 billion gallons of Flood Waters

    MOBILE, Ala. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District implemented flood control operations in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) and Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa (ACT) River Basins. Portions of Alabama, Florida and Georgia had received up to 15 inches of rain over 14 days causing the rivers within the basins to rise rapidly.
  • Flood Risk Management continues on the ACF and ACT Basins

    MOBILE, Ala. – Because of significant rainfall, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District continues its flood risk management operations in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) and Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa (ACT) River Basins. The reservoirs are operating for one of their primary missions, flood risk management. Portions of Northern Georgia and Alabama have received up to a foot of rain over the last few days causing the lakes and downstream rivers to rise rapidly.

    MOBILE, Ala. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that beginning Jan. 1, 2016, approximately 240 of its recreation projects nationwide will begin issuing America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Interagency Passes.

    MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today they will be extending the public comment period for the Draft EIS and Water Control Manual of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee- Flint River Basin an additional 45 days until January 15, 2016.
