Corps partnerships enhance fish migration
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District has signed a MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) for a cooperative fish passage strategy at the Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam (JWLD) with The Nature Conservancy, US Fish and Wildlife Service, NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to improve opportunities for successful fish migration in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River basin.

Prescribed Burning of Timberlands Underway at West Point Project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Project announced today that prescribed burning of selected timber stands around the reservoir is underway. Each winter, the Corps works with Forestry Commissions in both Alabama and Georgia using controlled burning to improve wildlife habitat on the public property surrounding the reservoir.

Give the Gift of a Comfortable Life Jacket!
The US Army Corps of Engineers encourages water safety by purchasing a life jacket this Fathers’ Day. Ninety percent of those who drown in Corps lakes and rivers were not wearing a life jacket. Many of those who drown knew how to swim, but did not know how to swim well, or did not know their physical limits, and did not survive.

West Point Dam Road Traffic Restricted
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, West Point Project, announced that vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam road will be closed from June 20 – 25, to ensure public safety as contractors replace the hydraulic power unit for the spillway gates.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Woodruff-Seminole Site office announces a fee change on June 15., for Eastbank, Hales Landing, and River Junction Campgrounds. Each campgrounds fee will increase $2, Eastbank $22; Hales and River Junction $18.
