West Point Dam Road Traffic Restricted

Published Aug. 23, 2012

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, West Point Project, announced that vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam road will be closed from August 27-31, 2012 to ensure public safety as contractors seal joints on the dam’s roadway.

Many motorists use the West Point Dam Road in their daily commutes across the Chattahoochee River, and the closure may add to their travel time.  Signs located at each end of the road are in place to notify the public of its accessibility. Alternate routes across the river are US Highway 29 Bridge in West Point, Georgia, and the Georgia Highway 109 Bridge near LaGrange, Ga.

For more information contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers West Point ProjectManagement Office at 706-645-2937 or visit to learn more about recreational opportunities. The Corps reminds everyone to always wear your lifejacket when boating.
