  • Public Open House to be held regarding the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, will hold four public open houses during the last week of March as part of the update process of the Water Control Manual (WCM) for the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa (ACT) River Basin Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).
  • Earn a Complimentary Annual Pass

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) - Allatoona Lake and Lake Sidney Lanier Project Offices, two of the most visited USACE lakes in the South Atlantic Division, are conducting a pilot program to promote water and boating safety by recognizing Georgia residents, 18 years of age or older, that earn and provide a certificate from an authorized Safe Boating Class to receive a complimentary USACE annual day use pass, valid for one year.
  • Corps Shoreline Management Help Desk Hours of Operation at Lake Lanier is Reduced

    The US Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announced today that due to a reduction in staffing, the Lake Sidney Lanier Shoreline Management Help Desk will only be operated Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Corps of Engineers to Conduct Open House

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host an open house to present information on the upcoming Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Study at the former Motlow Range, a Formerly Used Defense Site located near Tullahoma, Tenn. The open house will be on Thurs., Jan., 31 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Motlow State Community College in the Marcum Technology Center.
  • USACE approves GA request for flow reductions

    MOBILE, Ala. – On Oct 15, 2012 the Georgia Department of Natural Resources requested the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) reduce water quality releases from Lake Sidney Lanier at Buford Dam from 750 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 650 cfs in order to conserve as much storage as possible in Lake Lanier.
  • Water Control Manuals: USACE extends public scoping to next year

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District has extended its public scoping to Jan. 14, 2013 for the proposed update of the Master Water Control Manual for the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin (ACF) in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. This extension is due to several agencies requesting additional time to submit their analysis and studies to USACE.
  • Jim Woodruff Lock to close for repairs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announces the Jim Woodruff Lock located on the Apalachicola River in Chattahoochee, Fla., will be closed to all vessels to perform needed repairs beginning on Monday, December 10, 2012. The lock is expected to remain closed through February 15, 2013.
  • Lake Sidney Lanier Shoreline Management update for Community Docks

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, held three information meetings introducing proposed policy changes to the Shoreline Management Plan concerning community docks on Lake Sidney Lanier for public review.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 2013 Annual Day-Use Pass will be available for purchase in the amount of $30 at all Mobile District Lake and River Navigation Project Management Offices beginning Friday, Dec. 7.
  • USACE will increase releases due to drought conditions

    As drought conditions persist within the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River basin, the US Army Corps of Engineers will increase releases from Lake Sidney Lanier and West Point Lake.
