  • Lake Okatibbee experiencing high water from recent rain events

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District at Okatibbee Lake has closed several campgrounds and boat docks. East Central Mississippi has received several inches of rain over the last several days causing the lake and downstream rivers to rise.
  • Bluebird Monitoring Volunteer Opportunities

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District at West Point Project is seeking volunteers to assist with bluebird nesting box monitoring during the March to August breeding season. Prospective volunteers should be available to inspect their assigned nesting boxes every two weeks during the breeding season. USACE will provide data logs and maps to the locations of the assigned nesting boxes.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Announces West Bank Park Temporarily Closed at Lake Sidney Lanier

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today that West Bank Park at Lake Sidney Lanier will be closed for approximately four weeks from January 1 through January 26, 2014. The park will be closed to allow waterfowl hunting, in accordance with the federal and state late season regulations
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Inspecting and Repainting Boundary Line at West Point Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today that the project’s operations and maintenance contractor, Anderson Construction Company, will begin the seasonal maintenance of the Government property line around the reservoir on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013. USACE would like to make the public aware of this work so that local residents are not alarmed by their presence.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announces today that it will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at USACE-operated recreation areas on Veterans Day, November 11.
  • US Army Corps of Engineers annouces closure of all Regulatory Offices due to Federal Government Shutdown

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District today announced it will close its Regulatory offices due to the absence of available federal funding. Regulatory offices will be unable to evaluate individual permit applications, pre-construction notifications (PCNs) for nationwide permit (NWP) or regional general permit authorizations, or requests for jurisdictional determinations until after current year funding is received and the offices reopen.
  • Buford Dam Road and Park Areas to Temporarily Close

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District stated today that the Buford Dam Road in its entirety along Federal property, will be closed all day for the construction of three pedestrian cross-walks on Oct. 15, 2013 weather permitting. These pedestrian cross-walks will include new speed bumps and striping.
  • Corps announces changes to the Lock Schedules on the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today lock changes on the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River Basin. Beginning the week of October 7, 2013 ACF Locks will change to the fall/winter schedules. George W. Andrews, Walter F. George, and Jim Woodruff Locks will move to Monday-Thursday operations, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The locks will be open October 4-5, closed on October 6 and then open Monday-Thursday, October 7-10. This schedule will continue until March 2014.
  • Corps of Engineers waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 28

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 28. On this day, fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches will be waived.
  • USACE reopens Sawnee Campground

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District will be opening Sawnee Campground on Lake Sidney Lanier on September 20, 2013 until March 23, 2014 on a first-come, first served basis. Campers will have the opportunity to pick a campsite of their liking and pay, review fees, rules and regulations, or obtain maps of the park and lake at the self-service registration station by the gatehouse.
