While many people visit the area to fish or camp, the Alabama River Lakes Project Management Office also offers 35 Corps of Engineers day-use parks available for public use.

These areas offer a variety of recreation facilities including tennis courts, large playing fields, basketball courts, fishing piers, boating, water skiing, swimming, nature trails, and picnic shelters for individuals or larger groups. Many picnic shelters can be reserved up to 90 days in advance by calling the Alabama River Lakes Project Management Office at (334) 872-9554.
