    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced March 8, 2019, that high water levels have impacted recreational facilities and boating at Lake Sidney Lanier.

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District has temporarily closed the West Bank Park at Lake Lanier as of Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, due to safety hazards. The park will remain closed while saturated ground conditions delay efforts to resolve the safety concerns.
  • The National Championship Rowing Regatta is being considered at Lake Sidney Lanier on Memorial Day Weekend

    MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District is considering a request from the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) for special consideration to hold the National Championship Regatta on Memorial Day weekend at the Clark’s Bridge Olympic Rowing Venue, Lake Sidney Lanier. USACE may give special consideration to this event based on the design and purpose of the area where the event is proposed to occur.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces Lake Lanier Dock Permits return

    MOBILE, Ala.-- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers(USACE), Mobile District announces that Lake Sidney Lanier has completed the dock lottery process begun in 2009. After completion of the lottery it was determined that additional permits may be issued. The Shoreline Management Section at Lake Lanier will begin accepting requests for new dock permits on September 16, 2014.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Announces West Bank Park Temporarily Closed at Lake Sidney Lanier

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today that West Bank Park at Lake Sidney Lanier will be closed for approximately four weeks from January 1 through January 26, 2014. The park will be closed to allow waterfowl hunting, in accordance with the federal and state late season regulations
  • Buford Dam Road and Park Areas to Temporarily Close

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District stated today that the Buford Dam Road in its entirety along Federal property, will be closed all day for the construction of three pedestrian cross-walks on Oct. 15, 2013 weather permitting. These pedestrian cross-walks will include new speed bumps and striping.
  • USACE reopens Sawnee Campground

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District will be opening Sawnee Campground on Lake Sidney Lanier on September 20, 2013 until March 23, 2014 on a first-come, first served basis. Campers will have the opportunity to pick a campsite of their liking and pay, review fees, rules and regulations, or obtain maps of the park and lake at the self-service registration station by the gatehouse.
  • CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER FLOWS WILL BE UP AND CONSTANT FROM THURSDAY EVENING UNTIL NOON ON FRIDAY

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today the river flows in the Chattahoochee River below Buford Dam will be a constant 1,000 cubic feet per second through approximately 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on 27 June to noon EST 28 June. There will be no hydropower generation during that period.
  • Lake Lanier reduces operations at four campgrounds

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that four camping areas at Lake Sidney Lanier will be open only four days per week for the upcoming recreation season.
  • Earn a Complimentary Annual Pass

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) - Allatoona Lake and Lake Sidney Lanier Project Offices, two of the most visited USACE lakes in the South Atlantic Division, are conducting a pilot program to promote water and boating safety by recognizing Georgia residents, 18 years of age or older, that earn and provide a certificate from an authorized Safe Boating Class to receive a complimentary USACE annual day use pass, valid for one year.
