USACE Shoreline cleanup at West Point Lake

Published Jan. 21, 2014

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District at West Point Lake provides shoreline cleanup. Recent heavy rains have brought lots of run-off from swollen streams and the Chattahoochee River into West Point Lake.  This run-off brings with it the trash, debris and litter that people throw out on roadsides, parking lots and yards.

Workers from Anderson Construction Company, the maintenance contractor for USACE, are engaged in litter removal along the shoreline at Liberty Hill Park.  The park is located on the west bank of the Chattahoochee River, and the litter accumulates there and at other places after heavy rainfall events.

Anderson workers have cleaned the shoreline here several times this year.
