West Point Dam Road Traffic Restricted

Published June 13, 2011

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, West Point Project, announced that vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam road will be closed from June 20 – 25, to ensure public safety as contractors replace the hydraulic power unit for the spillway gates.

Many motorists use the West Point Dam Road in their daily commutes across the Chattahoochee River, and the closure may add to their travel time.  Signs located at each end of the road are in place to notify the public of its accessibility. Alternate routes across the river are US Highway 29 Bridge in West Point, Ga, and the Georgia Highway 109 Bridge near LaGrange, Ga.
