MOBILE, Alabama – Lake Sidney Lanier, announced Monday that they have installed fee machines at 12 of its recreation areas and that those areas will no longer accept cash as payment.
The popular U.S. Army Corps of Engineer recreational area stated the following 12 Lake Lanier recreational areas are now “cash-less”. The automated fee machines accept payments for day-use passes and/or annual passes by credit card only.
Buford Dam Park
Burton Mill
Keiths Bridge
Lanier Park
Little Hall
Long Hollow
Lower Pool East
Lower Pool West
Old Federal Day Use
Two Mile
Van Pugh North
West Bank
The decision was made after an extensive review of the business model for collecting fees at the USACE parks at Lake Sidney Lanier. The items considered in the decision process were efficiency, costs, safety and vandalism/theft. The advantages to switching to the automated fee machines include: greater efficiency, improved tracking of fee collections, decreased costs of managing collections, safer collection process (no cash), reduced theft and reduced break-ins/vandalism.
Even though fee machines have been installed at those 12 parks, Lake Sidney Lanier has 14 parks where no fee is required.
