USACE to reopen Jim Woodruff Lock

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District has scheduled the reopening of the Jim Woodruff Lock located on the Apalachicola River in Chattahoochee, Fla. for Friday, June 20 to all vessels as much needed repairs have been completed. The lock was closed on April 6 to allow repairs to the hydraulic cylinder that opens and closes the lock gates.

The Woodruff Lock will return to its normal operating schedule. It is manned 10 hours per day from 8am to 6pm EST Friday - Monday during the spring and summer (March – September) and Monday - Thursday during the fall and winter (October - February).

The lock is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week for appointments by commercial traffic. Non-commercial traffic may be accommodated during hours the lock is manned, subject to availability of lock operators and in conjunction with maintenance activities and as those activities allow.
