PUBLIC NOTICE NO. FP19-MH01-09: SAND ISLAND BENEFICIAL USE AREA BORROW AREA SOURCE MOBILE HARBOR NAVIGATION PROJECT

Interested persons are hereby notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USAGE), Mobile District is proposing to utilize the existing Sand Island Beneficial Use Area (SIBUA) as a borrow area source for dredged material and place the material within the boundaries of the SIBUA. This action would provide for the return of sediment into the littoral system, consistent with established regional sediment management implementation principles and goals. The characteristics of the sediment being dredged and placed range from fine to medium-grained quartz sand from the Mobile channel(s).
