  • Personal Watercraft and Boating Safety Course

    The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 81, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake, will conduct a personal watercraft and boating safety course at the West Point Project Management Office on April 16 and 18, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. This course will provide information on legal requirements, navigation rules, preventing personal watercraft and boating accidents, and new boating laws.
  • JIM WOODRUFF LOCK TO REMAIN CLOSED FOR REPAIRS

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announced today the Jim Woodruff Lock located on the Apalachicola River in Chattahoochee, Florida will remain closed to all vessels as much needed repairs continue. The lock closed on December 10, 2012 and is expected to remain closed through April 30, 2013.
  • Corps Suspends Drought Operations on the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin

    Drought conditions throughout many areas of the Southeastern United States have begun to improve. Rainfall has been above normal for the past month throughout the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint (ACF) River system, which has led to increased inflows into the lakes and the river system. Under the provisions of the Revised Interim Operations Plan (RIOP), when the composite conservation storage in the ACF system enters Zone 1 along with favorable hydrologic conditions, drought operations are suspended and normal operations resume.
  • Public Open House to be held regarding the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, will hold four public open houses during the last week of March as part of the update process of the Water Control Manual (WCM) for the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa (ACT) River Basin Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).
