Playground Improvement Underway at West Point Lake

Published March 17, 2015

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District at West Point Lake announced that efforts have begun to replace aging playground equipment in various parks around the reservoir.  The existing playground equipment is more than 20-years-old and has become outdated.  A total of 12 playgrounds are scheduled to be replaced.  All of the outdated equipment is being removed.  Hardley Creek and Eagle View Parks will receive new equipment this year.  Other parks will be fitted with new equipment later this year and in subsequent years.

“Funds are not available to replace all of the equipment at once.  We plan to install anywhere from 2 to 4 playgrounds each year.  Playgrounds are located in four campgrounds, three swimming beach areas and five other day use parks,” said Lisa Parker, Deputy Public Affairs Officer, Mobile District.
