The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Project contractor, East O&M, will begin seasonal maintenance of the federal property line around the reservoir on Monday, November 28, 2022.

This year, the contractor will begin work on Youngs Mill Road and progress South toward West Point, Georgia. After completing approximately 66 miles of the property line, the result will end on Potts Road, off U.S. Highway 29, in Troup County, GA.

Subdivisions, neighborhoods, and major roads adjacent to public land in these areas include Cloisters, Moss Creek, Sunny Point Circle, Lakeshore Drive, Wildwood, Morgan’s Landing, Foxcroft, Willowcrest, Whitaker Acres, Riverside, Lakeshore Estates, River Trace, The Landings, Ferrell Tatum Road, Waters Edge, and Avery Subdivision.
The work will continue throughout the winter months. East O&M employees wear fluorescent orange or yellow vests and hard hats displaying their company’s logo. The Corps would like to make the public aware of this work so that residents are not alarmed by their presence.

The federal property line can be identified by two red, horizontal stripes painted on trees on either side of the line when straight. There are three stripes painted on trees where the line turns. The property line extends over 330 miles around West Point Project, encompassing over 55,000 acres of publicly owned land and water. The entire extent of the line is repainted every five years to ensure that it is easily identifiable.
