USACE to close recreational areas during fall, winter seasons

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District’s Bay Springs Site Office in Dennis, Miss. is scheduled to close several areas on the northern end of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. for the fall and winter seasons and reopen March 1, 2015.

These areas include:

(1)   RESTROOMS:  The restrooms will close at all the picnic areas, overlooks and boat ramps from Amory, Miss. to Scruggs Bridge at MS Hwy 25.

(2)   GATES:  Gates at the Paden Park Overlook, Piney Grove Picnic Area and West Damsite Picnic Area will be closed. Gates at Scruggs East and Holcut Park will remain open to provide hunter access and parking for hunting areas in the Divide Section Wildlife Management Area; however, the restrooms at these areas will be closed. The gates to all boat ramp areas will remain open.

(3)   CAMPGROUNDS:  Piney Grove Campground and Loops 2 & 3 at Whitten Campground will close.  Whitten Campground‘s Loop 1 will remain open during the seasonal closing period on a first-come, first-serve basis.
