Allatoona Lake: Water safety awareness for recreation season

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Allatoona Project in Cartersville, Ga. is gearing up for the 2014 recreation season by hosting two water safety focused events: Vessel Safety Checks and America’s Boating Safety Course.

Vessel Safety Checks – conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary – is scheduled May 24, July 5 and August 30 at the Blockhouse Ramp and marinas around Allatoona Lake. Those interested in participating just need to show up with their vessels.

America’s Boating Safety Course – presented by the Atlanta Sail & Power Squadron – is scheduled for June 14, July 12 and August 30 at the Allatoona Project Management Office. The Atlanta Sail & Power Squadron is a unit of the United States Power Squadron – a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable.
