White Oak Creek Park Closed for Special Event

Published April 28, 2014

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announced today White Oak Day Use Park and White Oak boat ramp on Walter F. George Lake near Eufaula, Alabama, will be closed to the public on Saturday, May 10, 2014.  A “Take- A- Warrior Fishing” event will be conducted that day and will occupy both locations.  White Oak Campground will maintain normal operations during the event but campers are urged to launch, and then move trailers and vehicles inside the campground to make spaces available at the boat ramp.

This worthwhile event will host more than 40 wounded warriors and their families for a day on the lake with local boaters and fisherman.  We apologize for any inconvenience and ask the public’s cooperation so that we may honor these special Americans.

Boaters are urged to use other nearby facilities such as:

Cheneyhatchee, Barbour Creek, or Old Creek Town Boat Ramps in Eufaula, River Bluff or Cool Branch in Georgetown, Thomas Mill or Hardridge Creek in Henry County

The event is expected to conclude by 4 p.m. local time and the ramp will be opened to the public again at that time. White Oak Day Use Park will remain closed until Sunday, May 11, 2014. Questions or requests for information may be directed to the ACF Project Management Office at 334-232-4542 or Walter F. George Site Office at 229-768-2516.
