USACE hosts Walter F. George/George W. Andrews 50th Anniversary celebration

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled a ceremony Thursday, March 21 10:00 a.m. EST at the Walter F. George Powerhouse to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the locks and dams at Walter F. George and George W. Andrews. The WFG Lake was named after a former U.S. Senator from Georgia and GWA Lake was named after a former U.S. Representative from Alabama.

 

The WFG Powerhouse is located at 1397 Powerhouse Road Shorterville, AL 36373. This event is opened to the public with onsite parking and transportation available. Speakers will include USACE Mobile District leaders, former employees and family members of Walter F. George and George W. Andrews. Refreshments, facility tours and historic displays will be provided.
