Jim Woodruff Lock to close for repairs

Published Dec. 5, 2012

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District announces the Jim Woodruff Lock located on the Apalachicola River in Chattahoochee, Fla., will be closed to all vessels to perform needed repairs beginning on Monday, December 10, 2012.    The lock is expected to remain closed through February 15, 2013.

The 8-week closure is to allow repairs to the hydraulic system that opens and closes the lock gates. The closure will impact the movement of boat traffic on the lower Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River system.  Users should make the necessary arrangements in their navigation and recreation plans to accommodate this period of lock closure.  The two locks further upstream on the Chattahoochee River, Walter F. George and George W. Andrews, will not be affected by this action.
