MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, will begin reopening parks and recreation areas that were closed during the recent lapse in federal appropriations, following the signing of a continuing resolution on Nov. 12.

Effective immediately, Mobile District projects are taking all necessary steps to reopen campgrounds, boat ramps and other recreation facilities as staff return to duty, complete required safety inspections and prepare sites for public use. Reopening timelines will still vary by location.

Visitors should contact their local project office for specific information on the status of individual campgrounds, boat ramps, and day use areas. Most day-use areas are expected to reopen for visitation this weekend.
