USACE Mobile District Park Closures due to Lapse in Federal Appropriations

MOBILE, Ala. – Due to the ongoing Federal government shutdown, specified USACE-operated parks and day-use areas in the Mobile District will close starting October 31, until further notice.

  • Registered campers must depart by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, unless directed otherwise by their local project office. Any reservations days affected by this closure will be immediately canceled and fully refunded.
  • A limited number of parks featuring water access points with standalone boat ramps will remain open with restroom and other facilities closed. Jointly managed campgrounds and day-use parks will remain open and operate normally.
  • Minimal staffing will be available at project offices, but powerhouses and navigation locks will remain operational.

Parks Remaining Open:

  • Allatoona Lake: McKinney Campground, Laurel Ridge Trail Head, Bethany Bridge Access, Cooper Branch Day Use Area #1 Boat Ramp
  • Lake Sidney Lanier: Old Federal Campground, Bolding Mill Campground, Bald Ridge Creek Campground, Nix Bridge Park, Thompson Creek Park, Duckett Mill Campground, Toto Creek Park
  • Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway: Fulton Boat Ramp, Barton Ferry Boat Ramp, Saucer Creek, Stennis East Bank Boat Ramp, Becker Bottom, Amory Boat Ramp, Smithville, Beaver Lake, West Damsite Boat Ramp, Piney Grove Boat Ramp
  • George W. Andrews Lake: East Bank Park, Abbie Creek Park
  • Lake Seminole: Lower Pool, Reynoldsville Landing, Cypress Pond, Desser Landing
  • Walter F. George Lake: Hardridge Creek Boat Ramp, Georgia Damsite, Franklin Landing, East Bank Boat Ramp, Cool Branch Park, Rood Creek Park, Hatchechubbee Creek Park, Cheneyhatchee Creek Landing, White Oak Creek Boat Ramp, Highland Park Boat Ramp
  • West Point Lake: Earl Cook Recreation Area, Yellowjacket Creek Recreation Area, Rocky Point Recreation Area, Potts Road Service Area

*No parks at Alabama Rivers Lake, Carter’s Lake, Black Warrior-Tombigbee, and Lake Okatibbee will be affected at this time, except routine seasonal closures.
