BUFORD, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Lanier has announced the partial closure of Laurel Ridge Trail and the full closure of Lower Pool East Park to support construction of a new foot bridge.
Beginning March 24, all portions of the Laurel Ridge Trail south of Buford Dam Road will be closed. The trail will remain accessible north of Buford Dam Road, but it will not form a complete loop during this time. Access points at Lower Overlook Park and Buford Dam Park will remain open. The closure is expected to continue through June 28.
Lower Pool East Park, which normally opens for the recreation season in late March, will remain closed until the project is completed. The park and surrounding areas will be inaccessible for the duration of construction.
Laurel Ridge Trail is a popular 3.8-mile path offering views of Lake Lanier, woodland scenery, and the Chattahoochee River. The Army Corps of Engineers appreciates the public’s patience during this closure and encourages visitors to use alternative trails and recreation areas during construction.
