Blockhouse Ramp will temporarily close at 8 am Wednesday, June 26

Published June 21, 2024

Blockhouse Ramp will temporarily close at 8 am Wednesday, June 26 and will remain closed through Saturday, June 29 and possibly Sunday, June 30.  USACE at Allatoona will be replacing and installing a new gangway and courtesy dock in the area. The new dock is being contributed by partners The Union Sportsmen Alliance and Accudock and will be assembled by volunteer union workers with the Atlanta Trades. The new dock will be larger and the gangway longer than the current courtesy dock configuration. It will immediately provide more dock space for boaters during the summer and a dock that will be in the water longer during the winter lake level drawdown.

We understand that this will be a temporary inconvenience for the public but will provide a tremendous upgrade for boaters in the future. We encourage boaters to use other ramps in the area such as Old Hwy 41#1 Day Use Area and Tanyard Ramp. Other nearby USACE managed ramps would include Galt’s Ferry, Payne Campground Ramp, Cooper Branch #1, and GA DNR operated Red Top Mountain State Park ramp and Bartow County Gatewood Ramp.  Once installation is completed on the dock, USACE will immediately reopen the area and will notify the public by social media. Questions concerning the dock installation can be directed to the Allatoona Lake Operations Project Management Office at 678-721-6700.
