MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced the approval of
the Updated Water Control Manuals for the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa River Basin on May 9, 2022.
The manuals, contain water control plans, that include guidelines for managing water storage and the release of water from reservoirs. These manuals guide water management operations and need to be updated occasionally as conditions change.
The updated plans and manuals comply with existing USACE regulations, dependent on changes in basin hydrology. Approved water control manuals provide for a reallocation of 14,159 acre-feet of storage from the conservation pool at Allatoona Lake. The selected plan also approves changes to flood operations and winter pool levels at Alabama Power Company’s Weiss and Logan Martin Projects.
