MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Corps Foundation have announced the annual National Excellence in Partnerships Award for 2021. The award recognizes outstanding contributions by a partner agency to USACE recreation and environmental stewardship programs.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District’s partner Friends of Lake Lanier (FLL) were one of five partners across the nation nominated for the award for their dedication to improving recreational development and sustainability at Lake Lanier.
FLL is a non-profit run by volunteers dedicated to supporting recreation at campgrounds and day-use parks, water safety, and natural resources. It is designed to keep funding on Lake Lanier by providing support and services to parks, campgrounds, and waterways.
USACE supplies children with complimentary life jackets at loaner stations located on 18 Lake Lanier beaches. FLL is hosting a donation drive for U.S. Coast Guard Approved life jackets in all sizes to keep those stations stock. Learn more at https://friendsoflakelanier.org/index.html#/lifejackets
