CHAPMAN TAKES COMMAND OF MOBILE DISTRICT

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District has the distinct honor of welcoming Col. Jeremy J. Chapman, who assumed command of the Mobile District as its 54th Commander on June 28, 2021.

Chapman takes command of one of the most prestigious and historic districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, whose workforce of award-winning engineering, construction, regulatory and emergency management professionals are nationally recognized for their leadership in delivery of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ civil works and military programs missions to the Nation and beyond across Central and South America.

“My family and I want to thank everyone for such a warm southern welcome…this has to be one of the best regions to live and work in the federal government,” Chapman said. “I’m excited to get to know all of our awesome employees and partners across this region. Mobile’s local and federal partners, as well as our industry partners, are critical to safely delivering our projects and programs for the Nation.”

A graduate and commissioned officer of the United Stated Military Academy at West Point (Class of 1998), Chapman assumed command of the Mobile District following his prior assignment as Deputy Commander of the Mississippi Valley Division, headquartered at Vicksburg, Miss. Chapman’s previous assignments included senior maneuver support trainer at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, Cal.; commander of the 2nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bliss, Tex.; command inspector general for the 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss; and battalion executive and operations officer for the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Drum, N.Y.

A registered professional engineer in the state of Missouri, Chapman’s civilian education includes a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from the United States Military Academy and a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Stanford University. Chapman’s military education includes the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.
