USACE West Point Lake to Temporarily Close Project Areas for West Point Lake Triathlon

MOBILE, Ala. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake will temporarily close several areas of the project to public access when it hosts the 17th Annual West Point Lake Triathlon on June 27, 2021.

The following locations will be closed during the sporting event:

▪The roadway crossing West Point Dam

▪R. Shaefer Heard Day Use Park and Boat Ramp


Additionally, the boat ramp area of R. Shaefer Heard Day Use Park will be closed on June 25, 2021 in preparation for the event.

Commuters who use the West Point Dam Roadway to cross between Georgia and Alabama will be required to use an alternate route as the dam roadway will be closed all day.

Visitors for recreation affected by this event may choose to use Long Cane Park on the Georgia side and/or Anderson Park on the Alabama side of the lake. Both parks offer boat launching ramps, picnic facilities, pavilions and restrooms.
