MOBILE, Ala. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District at Allatoona Lake is scheduled to host an archery-only deer hunt on McKinney Campground Dec. 7 - 8, 2019, for youth hunters, starting at 5:00 a.m.
“We are excited to provide this special hunting opportunity for our youth,” said Chris Purvis, lead park ranger for Allatoona Lake Project.
Youth hunters 15 years old, and younger, are eligible for participation. This event is free, but reservations must be made for youth hunters to enter a drawing – at no charge – for a chance to hunt because there are only 15 available hunting spaces per day.
Youth — ages 15 and younger — are not required to have a hunting license but must have an adult hunting assistant, 21 years or older, with a valid Georgia Big Game License. In addition, all hunters must bring their own hunting equipment. Hunting blinds will be provided throughout McKinney Campground and available for youth hunters by reservation only.
Reservations will be taken by phone, or in person, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until Nov. 15, 2019. Please contact or visit:

A random list software will be used to randomly generate 15 of the submitted names for each hunting day. Hunters randomly selected will be notified by phone on Nov. 15, 2019.
“Our goal is to give all our youth a fair chance at being selected because we can only accommodate a limited amount of participants,” said Purvis.
