PSA: CARTERS LAKE ANNOUNCES SEASONAL CLOSURES

MOBILE, Ala. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District announces seasonal adjustments to the operating schedule at Carters Lake recreation sites.

The Carters Lake Visitor Center hours of operation are changing.  From November 1 - April 14, the Visitor Center will be open Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. From April 15 - October 31, the Visitor Center will be open Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Seasonal schedule adjustments will also take place at the following recreation facilities:

Woodring Branch Developed Campground — open Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend 

Woodring Branch Day-Use and Primitive Campground — open April 15 through October 31 

Doll Mountain Campground — open from April 15 to October 31

Doll Mountain Day-Use Picnic Area — open April 15 to October 31

Harris Branch Beach — open from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend

South Reregulation Area Picnic Area — open April 15 to October 31

The following areas will remain open year-round:

Northbank Park

Damsite Park

Ridgeway Park

North Reregulation Area

Woodring boat-In Campground

Doll Mountain Day-Use Boat Ramp

Reregulation Lake Boat Ramp

“We invite our visitors to continue recreating at Carters Lake and all our USACE-managed sites,” said Cesar Yabor, chief of Public Affairs, USACE Mobile District. “Our goal is to provide the highest quality of recreation for everyone.”

Carters Lake — named after 19th Century Georgia state legislator and U.S. Representative Farish Carter Tate — is one of the most scenic bodies of water in the southeastern United States and the deepest of Georgia’s reservoir lakes. Located at the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains, its sparkling waters and rugged shoreline provide a beautiful surrounding for a variety of recreational opportunities including camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, and hunting.
