MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District continues clearing high water-level navigation impacts to the Black Warrior and Tombigbee River systems (BWT).
Users of these waterways should be aware the Coffeeville Lock (mile 116.6) remains closed, with reopening expected by Saturday, March 9, 2019.
The Demopolis Lock (mile 213.2) has reopened, and all other locks along the two waterways remain open at this time.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as we continue aggressively executing our mission to clear the navigation impacts across our region,” said Wynne Fuller, chief of Operations Division, USACE Mobile District. “The shoaling and lock closures we’ve experienced are a direct result of the high waters and continued heavy rainfall over Alabama.”
