U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District prepared to delay scheduled seasonal closure of campgrounds to accommodate Hurricane Irma evacuees

Published Sept. 7, 2017

MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, announced today that the district’s recreation facilities are prepared to extend the camping season to meet the potential demand for evacuees displaced by Hurricane Irma.

Evacuees may be provided space for travel trailers, campers, or tents at the campgrounds, but will need to provide their own equipment and supplies, as none will be made available.  Temporary, short-term camping will be available for displaced people, with extensions to normal stay policies issued on an individual basis.

Those seeking space should be prepared to provide proof of their status as an evacuee and basic identifying information.
