District Commander sworn in as SAME Mobile Post President

MOBILE, Ala. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, Commander Col. James DeLapp, was sworn in as the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Mobile Post President at the Athelstan Club here, July 12. DeLapp replaces outgoing Mobile Post President Jeff Duplantis, a senior project manager with Constantine Engineering.

During the ceremony, former Mobile District commander, and current SAME South Central Regional Vice President, Col. (R) Robert Keyser administered the oath to DeLapp.

As president, DeLapp will provide leadership and direction to the annual program of the Mobile Post, made up of more than 620 individual and corporate members from around the region.  Activities include a variety of professional development opportunities, outreach with local schools and universities including a scholarship program, and interaction with local industry leaders and elected officials.

Founded in 1920, SAME leads collaborative efforts to identify and resolve national security infrastructure-related challenges. The organization is well known for giving back to the community through various outreach events to assist our Nation’s veterans and by promoting the importance of science, technology, engineering and math education.
