USACE MOBILE DISTIRCT TO HOST OPEN HOUSE FOR SELMA FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT STUDY

MOBILE, Alabama – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District is hosting a public scoping meeting (Open House) for the Selma Flood Risk Management Feasibility Study at the Selma Convention Center Nov. 7, 2018, in Selma, Ala.

The purpose of the study is to reduce the flooding from the Alabama River in the City of Selma, and the bank line erosion throughout the city. USACE is exploring ways to reduce flood damages to critical infrastructure and property, improve riverbank stability, and to improve and/or increase access for emergency and recreation.

The USACE invites all interested parties to attend and submit comments on natural and human resources concerns, potential environmental effects, and other measures that USACE should consider in this study.

The meeting will be held from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Central Standard Time at the Convention Center located at 211 Washington St. in Selma.
